The Age of Reason or Age of Rationalism. In western philosophy, 17th century is considered the start of modern philosophy with the work of René Descartes.
Two schools of thought: the rationalists and the empiricists.
Three main rationalists: René Descartes, Baruch Spinoza, and Gottfried Leibniz. Building upon their English predecessor Francis Bacon.
Three main empiricists: Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and George Berkeley.
